Job Summary:
The Ports and Harbors Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of ports, harbors, and other marine infrastructure projects. The incumbent will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement engineering designs and plans for ports and harbors, including the layout, structures, and infrastructure required.
2. Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and environmental impact assessments to determine project viability and potential risks.
3. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for construction or renovation projects.
4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and clients to understand project requirements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
5. Evaluate and recommend materials, equipment, and construction methods suitable for marine infrastructure projects.
6. Conduct inspections and quality control checks during various stages of project implementation to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
7. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and provide timely recommendations for corrective actions to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
8. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient project execution and resolve any construction-related issues.
9. Stay updated with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to ports and harbors engineering.
10. Provide technical expertise and support to other team members, including junior engineers and technicians.
11. Prepare and present project reports, including progress updates, technical findings, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license/certification is required.
3. Minimum of [X] years of experience in ports and harbors engineering or a closely related field.
4. Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, standards, codes, and practices as they relate to marine infrastructure projects.
5. Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software for designing and drafting engineering plans.

9. Proven project management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and meet project deliverables.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
11. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to ensuring accuracy and quality in engineering designs and project execution.
12. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
